Getting the most from your probiotic
How much?
Use one full sachet per serving. Gut & Ground is formulated as a convenient once-daily coffee.
When should I have it?
Choose a time that fits your routine. Some probiotic studies use before-meal dosing, but this does not establish that taking Gut & Ground before food is superior.
With or without food?
It can be incorporated into your normal coffee routine. Available evidence does not establish that taking it with food reduces its effectiveness.
After preparation
For best product quality, prepare it when you are ready to drink it rather than making it hours in advance.
Two ingredients. Nothing unnecessary.
Why a spore-forming probiotic?
You may see our probiotic referred to as both Weizmannia coagulans and Bacillus coagulans. They refer to the same probiotic species. Bacillus coagulans is the long-established name used in much of the scientific literature and probiotic industry, while Weizmannia coagulans reflects a more recent taxonomic reclassification. Our specific strain is Weizmannia coagulans HBC798.
HBC798 is a spore-forming probiotic. In its spore form, the microorganism has a protective structure that makes it more resilient to environmental stresses than many conventional non-spore-forming probiotics.
This stability makes a spore-forming probiotic particularly suited to a shelf-stable powdered product such as Gut & Ground.
About the probiotic
How much probiotic is in each sachet?
Each Gut & Ground sachet contains 1.3 billion CFU of Bacillus coagulans. Human studies of specific B. coagulans strains commonly use daily doses of around 1–2 billion CFU, with some studies using doses of up to 6 billion CFU per day for several months.
For everyday use, we recommend one sachet daily. More isn't necessarily better, as probiotic effects and appropriate doses can vary between strains and individuals.
Possible side effects
Bacillus coagulans is generally well tolerated, with clinical studies reporting few or no treatment-related adverse effects at commonly studied doses. As with any food or probiotic product, individual responses can vary.
If you experience persistent or unexpected symptoms, discontinue use and seek advice from a healthcare professional.
If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, immunocompromised, have a serious medical condition, or are under medical care, speak with your healthcare professional before use.

Quick answers
Can I add milk?
Yes. You can prepare Gut & Ground with dairy milk or your preferred milk alternative.
Can I drink it iced?
Yes. Dissolve and stir the sachet thoroughly, then add ice and cold water or milk.
Does it need to be refrigerated?
No. Keep the sachets sealed in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
Can I use boiling water?
Yes. Bacillus coagulans is a heat-resistant, spore-forming probiotic. Published studies on specific strains have shown very high survival after brewing at 80°C, with viable spores also demonstrated after exposure to 100°C. For best probiotic viability, we recommend using hot water as you would for a normal coffee and avoiding prolonged boiling or keeping the prepared drink at boiling temperature.
Do I need to take it on an empty stomach?
No specific requirement has been established. Some studies administer similar probiotics before meals, but that does not prove that an empty stomach is necessary or superior.
